The Ghent University is renewing its entire ‘Sint-Pietersnieuwstraat’ site (next to the Vooruit building). The ‘Tweekerkenstraat’ building is a new construction for the Economy Faculty, floor area: ± 5,000 m2. This new construction houses an auditorium for 600 persons with associated foyer, a library with archive, the faculty’s Dean’s offices with council chamber and a students’ lobby with offices.Ingenium designed the systems for HVAC, electrical circuitry, sanitary facilities and lifts. For HVAC, particular attention was paid to the so-called ‘REG’ measures (measures promoting rational energy consumption.
The students’ lobby is conditioned passively by means of automatically controlled windows, natural ventilation and night-time venting. The library and auditorium are provided with adiabatic cooling.
