Bio-accelerator, Zwijnaarde

The bio-accelerator is a biotech research building near the Zwijnaarde Industrial Park. Ingenium designs the techniques and performs the Energy Performance (EPB) reporting.

The bio-accelerator is a biotech research building near the Zwijnaarde Industrial Park, where, in particular, stock-market-listed Ablynx (nanobody research) is housed. The building consists of ten separate units of approximately 1,000 m²; each containing research laboratories, offices, desk areas and storage spaces (refrigeration cells and 80 deepfreezers). Considering the ever-changing technical requirements imposed on today’s research laboratories, durability is included in the concept. This concept of the technical equipment is composed to allow maximum flexibility at unit level. The labs have a containment level L2 and are cooled to 21°C. Below the building, there is an open car park.

Besides the regular techniques, the building also offers compressed air distribution, steam production and distribution of autoclaves for lab applications, overpressure and vacuum control and HEPA filtration in the laboratories.

Ingenium also performs the Energy Performance (EPB) reporting for this project.

The building was designed in the period 2007-2008. The construction started end 2008.
