Cultural infrastructure C-MINE

In 2001, the city council of Genk acquired the building site of the Winterslag mine.
The building site is a strong industrial artefact, consisting of monumental buildings
with a powerful architecture and a unique interior.

Out of respect for the past, the city council wants to give this striking site a new dynamical function.
One of the projects to be realised is a cultural infrastructure for both presentation and production.

Within the entire project, space will be provided for the realisation of two performance halls: one for 500 spectators and a second smaller hall for 250 spectators.
These halls will be realised within an adjacent new building.

The grandstand in the smaller auditorium has a capacity of 250 pl and is divided into two parts - one at stage level and one in a lift pit to achieve optimal sightlines.

TTAS co-signed the auditorium design and the technical equipment of auditorium and stage tower.
