Ingenium was founded in 1968 by Herwig R. Vyncke. He bridged the gap 'between art and skill' by not separating the technical equipment from, but by aligning it with, the design, purpose and functions of a building. Together with his business partner Jef Leye - who retired in 1988 - he built the engineering team into a close-knit and experienced group over the decades that followed. Throughout this time - until today - the focus remained on the holistic approach to complex systems, such as people's living and working environments.

In 2005, Nicolas Vyncke took over the helm from his father. Driven by climate challenges that are becoming increasingly clear and pressing, he turned the engineering firm into a pioneer based on a positive world view. The group - with the brand names Ingenium and Industrium – translates 50 years of knowledge and experience into innovative, independent and high-quality advice to clients who want to realise challenging projects. In 2021, a partnership was established with Hoptimize to further expand the group's activities in the Brussels and Wallonia region. By providing an answer to the energy issues of tomorrow now, Ingenium creates added value for generations to come.
